| InSet Technologies Inc. Announces New Company Name | |||||||||||||||||
Mount Olive, NJ, May 1, 2010 -- InSet Technologies Inc., a medical device company focused on providing drug delivery solutions, announced today the adoption of a new company name. The new name, Medasys Inc., creates a clearer association with the programmable infusion systems Medasys will market in the US. The InSet name, along with various patents on technology associated with implantable programmable drug pumps, was acquired in 2005, when InSet was formed. In 2007, InSet received approval from the US FDA to conduct a clinical trial to validate the safety and efficacy of the Prometra Programmable Pump. Medasys’ first product, Prometra, is designed to be highly reliable, and very accurately deliver medicines to the intrathecal space that surrounds the spinal cord. While data collection for the clinical trial will continue until the device obtains US FDA clearance, several abstracts have been presented to describe the clinical results. A published paper has also reported on clinical accuracy, safety, and efficacy experienced with drug delivery via the Prometra pump. “As we await FDA approval, we are committed to meeting the needs of physicians and patients who would benefit from access to this life changing therapy” said Steve Adler, CEO of Medasys. FDA approval is anticipated later this year.
